Your Trusted Arvada Home Services
Your water heater is a critical appliance in your Colorado home. While you probably rarely think about it, your water heater is always hard at work supplying you with hot water. How do you know when you need a new one?
It’s Over a Decade Old
Most water heaters last between eight and 10 years. While it may last longer than a decade, it’s when it’s 10 years old that you should prepare to have it replaced. Old water heaters aren’t very efficient and can break down at any time.
Fluctuating Water Temperatures
It’s not much fun to take a warm shower and suddenly be hit by cold water. If this becomes a common issue in your home, it’s probably time to replace your water heater. Older water heaters tend to have a partially clogged output line that causes this problem.
It’s Making Strange Noises
Over time, sediment builds up at the bottom of your water heater’s tank. The sediment eventually hardens and will cause banging or rumbling noises. Once this has happened, your water heater has reached the end of its life.
If you don’t get enough hot water out of your water heater, it’s another sign it needs to be replaced. As water heaters age, they get worse at heating water because of sediment buildup.
